66 Combine in Soybeans

Anyone want to share with me the cylinder speed,no of concaves, no of cylinder bars,,and concave clearance for combining soybeans with a 66 combine?

I use an All-Crop 60 for beans, settings should be similar. I run the cylinder speed down around 600 rpm or less, clearance at 3/8", all 8 cylinder bars, both concaves. Vary the speed a bit to prevent cracking the beans, although I have never been docked for them. Watch your reel height to prevent shelling ahead of the cutter bar and get an even feed onto the canvas. Especially when dry beans are easy to shell so you don't need a lot of cylinder speed. If they are a bit weedy you will need need more speed and maybe take less than a full swath to keep from plugging. Little old Allis doesn't like the green stuff!! I run the air about 1/2 open, look at your fodder to see if you are getting all of the beans separated. Hydraulics on the header helps you keep down low, but you can't get as low as the new machines so don't even try. Accept some loss with a 60 year old machine. My beans are usually as clean or cleaner than anyone else's so good luck with it. Hope this helps you.

The 6-Bat reel was an improvement but not bad with the 4-Bat..
Wait until you get to run some Timothy or Red Clover through it, for Seed..!!!
Talk about having to get used to the Sounds...!!!

Before Combining Soybeans with the AC 80 or 66..
LEARN HOW to NAIL the Brakes AND Force the Machine to S.T.O.P..Before a rock can get up the canvas and strike the Cylinder Bars..!!!!!!!
Many times, it would be best to Kill the Throttle and NAIL the Brakes..leaving the clutch engaged..
With an AC-WD or WD-45, you push the FOOT Clutch AND Nail the Brakes, to STOP the PTO and Equipment..
NEVER use an Over-running PTO adapter in this application...

Thanks Paul for the advice. When you say watch the reel height, where should the bats hit the beans?
