Thanks for the help on the charging problem guys. Added a ground wire to the light switch and charges good now. Tractor has a magneto with new plug wires. The wires are the resistor type. Will these be okay? Do you need to drain any oil to take the belt pulley off? Or just loosen bolt and pull it out? Thanks.

Resistor wires will damage your magneto. Definitely change to solid wire. Yes, you need to drain transmission oil before removing belt pulley.

Park the tractor in a ditch with the right side on the high side to pull out the pully then put the cap in that replaces the pully have done it a million times.

On any tractor you need true copper wire plug wires. The resister type cause all sorts of odd problems and will not last long on any tractor. Take them back if you can and get true wire plug wires

I found out the hard way, resistor wires will destroy a mag coil. The voltage on the secondary gets so high that it will burn a hole thru the coil and short to the housing. Its really embarassing when it happens in the middle of a tractor pull.
