Wd-45 charging system

Depends on the alternator. Me I always use the 3 wire set up since it is #1 cheaper to install and I can buy them with a life time warranty and there is only really 2 wires used since the #2 wire on the plug goes right to the big stud on the alternator. Plus the 3 wire charges at a lot lower RPM

I"m also doing a conversion to 12 volt on my wd45. I picked up a fairly new rebuilt alternator at the autowreckers for 30 bucks. It came off a 96 cavalier. I also took the bracket and modified it a bit, to fit. I wouldn"t mind comparing notes with you to see if I am missing something. Two heads our better then one. I have a couple concerns regarding going to a 12 volt coil and if a resistor is required? And I"m not sure if my little idot light is enough resistance.
