I just brought home a 1939 B that originally belonged to my Grandfather. It hasn't run for years, but has been inside. The crank hole which is part of the radiator support is really egged out. It appears there is a extra thickness piece that is standard on these, and it too is bad. Has there been any sort of repair piece designed to weld or bolt over that original hole? I am sure I could remove it and have it built up and turned back to original size, just wondered if anyone designed a repair piece. Thanks.

Thanks. Because that is basically a "wear point" at least for the crank start models, I was hoping they made a repair part that welded in place. It is a nice little tractor, and because it belonged to my Grandpa it is even more special.

The part you need is called the "radiator support". There are usually some on Ebay. I don't know of a repair kit for it, but if you have a welder, or know of a welder it can be repaired. You can either weld it up or make a new piece of metal and cut the proper hole into it, then weld itin place. Great little tractor. Bob

I have it running, it is just real hard to crank with that slop in the crank slot, plus it is wearing in the sheet metal. I was hoping they made a thicker piece of steel that was designed to repair that worn slot by bolting over it or tack welding it or something. Thanks.

Behind that sheet metal should be another bracket that the crank handle goes threw and it is around 5/16 thick and is there to keep the sheet metal good. I probably have 2 or 3 of them laying around on parts tractor I have. Also if parked for more then a year I would fill the cylinders with ATF and also pour ATF down the exhaust and let it sit a week before I would even try to turn the engine over
