'49 C leaking oil from bell housing

My C doesn't seem to leak much at all sitting level, a couple drops on the floor over night when put up warm.
But when I run it up a steep hill, particularly onto my trailer, as soon as it gets back to level it will leak about 4 ounces right away.
Runs right out the front of the torque tube where it meets the engine.
I haven't noticed any clutch trouble yet.
I've got a manual on the way. Haven't done anything in the way of troubleshooting yet.
Just wondered if this might be a common problem with this model.

You could back it onto your trailer to stop the leak, but then it may leak on the front wheels.
It would be better to replace the crankshaft seals.

I was more than a little afraid that might be the answer.
Good winter project I guess. Thanks!

What is that piece hanging down under the tractor? Looks like a D-Ring? Just behind the oil pan. Nice looking tractor! How did you hang the lights? Different way of doing it.

It's just a clevis pinned on there. I used it to chain it down on the trailer without scratching the paint.
Lights are just mouted to the side of the torque tube on a pipe. I can't take credit (or blame) for the lights. They were that way when I got it. They're TSC specials.
