engine serial number

Les,

Did you see my last answer to you in your previous post? Your engine serial number CR39360 indicates the engine is from a 60H power unit and not a tractor. If you have a 1942 B, the original engine was replaced sometime in the past. The casting number that you indicated previously (AM2916-27) suggests that the block was cast in 1955. My engine serial number info comes from the AC Parts Manual. The casting number info comes from a list I copied from a website in the past. Unfortunately, I no longer have the link to that website.

I had understood that the CR serial numbers were originally replacement engines - but all of what I"ve seen with CR prefix have been in the CR28xxx to CR39xxx range - I"m guessing they were either interspersed with CE or were started at a higher number than 1. If they were interspersed with CE that would make them all 1944 which does not make sense, so I"m guessing they started high - anyone with better info? best, Ed
