There is a company on E-bay that sells a small body alternator just for such conditions. Hope this helps.Dick

the most common alternator to put on any tractor is the DELCO 10si, built from about 1975 to 1995. Your right, its a little bigger and tighter than a newer model. A common alternator today is the DELCO CS130. That is a standard alternator on most GM cars (chevy, pontial, olds) from 1995 till about 2005. Its about an inch smaller in diameter, but normally a little more expensive. I have bought several on e-bay. You can also use a Denso or other Japaneese alternaotr of a Honda, etc... just get one with an internal voltage regulator.

here is a CS130 on a B.

here is a couple good photos for closeup. some of the alternators have 3 mounts 120 degrees apart, this one has two 180 degrees apart.

I use the common Delco 10SI on them. I use a bracket that sets them up higher so as to clear the steering parts

Used one out of an old Mitsubishi "Mighty Max" pickup. A Dodge D50 would be the same. With some spacers it worked with the original generator mount and easily clears the "chicken roost" steering link.
