Bad Throttle/Governor. PHOTOS!!

Hello! Well today I was feeding some round bales of hay to the cows, Well Im useing a 1949 WD with a WD45 engine, I had the throttle as low as it can go coming off a small hill, The Nex thing i know the throttle/Gov went way way to high! So I come to a stop and move the throttle lever to high idle and back to low idle, The engine is still running way to fast, ,SOUNDS LIKE THE ENGINE WAS GONNA BLOW UP, Well I've adjusted the long rod going to the gov and the short rod, Now it stays in low idle just fine but as soon as I move the throttle the engine get faster and faster and there is no way to stop it so I have to kill the tractor,

Any Ideas on what happend and how to fix this?

Thanks

Check that the throttle butterfly has not fallen off of the throttle shaft 'cause the screws fell out. It's happened before.

Check that the governor-carburetor linkage hasn't fallen off.

If all that checks out, likely the thrust bearing/fork INSIDE the governor have failed or one or both governor weights have broken/fallen off.

The throttle butterfly is good!
I took off the governor-carburetor rod and the tractor runs fine,
I put the butterfly hafe way and the tractor run at hafe Idle,
Now the PO had bent the rod or it looks like it however the trator has been running fine after I got a new spring under the gas tank.

I was hopeing it was not gonna be the bearing/fork and the governor weights :( darn it! Where can you buy parts for the gov at?

A nearby AGCO dealer should be able to get the parts for you.

If you have it running and grab the throttle rod between the governor and the carb and "goose" the engine does the governor try and "fight" you and slow it down? If NOT, it certainly sounds like internal governor problems.

You stated the governor HAS previously been operating properly, so that would SEEM to rule out a mis-adjusted gov-to-carb linkage UNLESS something has "slipped".

I know nothing has slipped, Like you said governor HAS previously been operating properly, so that would SEEM to rule out a mis-adjusted gov-to-carb linkage. I've Never took off a WD Gov so this is gonna me new for me! I guess I can take off that cover and look inside it.

Besides Bob"s always good advice...check if the governor spring is broken. There is a rectangular cast cover, right front corner of the engine, forward of the oil fill hole/distributor/mag drive, about 2x3 or 4 inches, held on by four bolts, maybe quarter inch. Look inside, may need a mirror, and check the spring and linkage.

Well I just got back inside! Went out and took of the gov!
talk about being cold out side gees, the governor spring is good and the governor weights are there nothing missing! Do any of U have a photo of the inside of the gov? that way I can make sure it really is all there lol. The weights move nice and free they might have a lil play but idk whats lil play on AC .

MAN I can see why people say don't run them if the gov is messing up! Gees all them gears that busted parts can get to!
