I had wanted to keep my 1953 CA original, but it is a working tractor, and has to start and run. So I finally converted it to 12 volt using parts listed on Duey's Page found here on the forum, http://dueyschutter.freeservers.com/index.html Took me 2 hours to get it running, and the difference is almost unbelievable, wish I would have done it sooner. I still have to modify the alternator mounting bracket to get the pulleys more aligned, but it worked the way I had it without the belt jumping off.

like you,I wanted to keep my JD "M" stock. finally after not being able to start after sitting a month or so and haveing posters say "the 6 volt system works great if you keep it up" i too converted to 12 volt and eletronic ignition. WHAT A DIFFERANCE!!!. So much that my farmall cub got the same treatment. will not go back to 6 volt again or point ignition. i now have a 6 volt gen. for a JD "M" sale if any one needs one. d.coleman
