Ross steering

Was doing real good getting my 41 B put back together until I got to the steering gear. It has a Ross style steering gear box and the bearings are shot. Everything else looks ok including the worm gear and shaft. Does anyone know where to get new bearings? I have looked for days and come up empty. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try the AGCO dealer? even if they can no longer get them, having the part numbers MAY aid in a 'net search to find the bearings.

No, I havn"t tried AGCO. I don"t have the part numbers. I am in need of a parts guide, just not sure where to get one.

How Shot is it? I have gone to the hardware store and bought a new ball or replaced them all.

Here is where I just replaced one.

Look at the picture in DickL's post, you can put loose ball bearings back into the race. You can hold them in place with grease while you reassemble the box.

The unit must had water in it (and no grease) for many years. The end bearing cup is rusted and pitted, not usable. The other one can probably be salvaged.

If I can find a used race and get 24 of these bearing balls, I should be back in business. Thanks

Just a suggestion but the cone/cups for the bottom and the top are the same. If you put the good one on the bottom and have a way to grind out/ smooth up the pits and put it on top it could be shimmed down to where it might work. Shims are how the bearings for that are set any way. Not seeing what your are dealing with it is idea only.
