Neighbor has a D-10. One of the adjustable lift rods broke while he was bush hogging. Replaced it and everything seemed normal. He went back to finish hogging. When he engaged the PTO it started making a noise as though the gears were not meshing correctly. It does not make this noise if the PTO is not hooked up, only under load. The shaft has a little play at the rear bearing, but is not bent. Is it possible when the rod broke it put abnormal stress on the bearing and ruined it, or would it have caused more severe damage. The PTO seems to be the only thing affected.

What series D-10 do you have, If you don't know, serial # is behind the carb, on the torque tube, on the flange, where the torque tube bolts to the motor. Not having that, do you know if its live PTO, or does it stop, when you step on the clutch?
