B-CA trans swap

Would a B have a faster road speed with a four speed from a CA or do both transmissions have 1:1 ratio in high gear?

8 1/2 mpr for the B and 1 1/2 mpr for the CA but I would guess a lot of the difference is in tire size.

The B that I mow with is on 8 - 24 and the other ones are on 11.2 - 24 and there is quite a difference in ground speed.

Well, Dick is right. without knowing for sure I can assure you that both trannys are 1:1 in high gear.( I don't think they made overdrive ratios in those units) Your speed will come from tire size and rpm.

I agree with Jeff; 1:1 in high, whether it's a 3 or 4 speed. So.....tire size determines the road speed. The real plus in the 4-speed, is the better selection in all the lower gears.
Of course the tire size impacts the lower gears as well, but not as noticeably.
