D-19

D-19 will not start. Diesel 12v I have had and used it for over 10 year.
Started acking up. When starting, it was like the switch was not making contact. I replaced the switch with OEM. Replaced the solinods, battery is ok. Starter is ok.

So your saying it is spinning over but not hitting right?? Is it a key type kill or is it a cable type kill, not sure on it since I do not and have not had one. If cable kill make sure that the cable is moving freely and has be pushed back to home position. If key type unhook the wire at the injector pump and see if that works. Other problems could be water in your fuel and or clogged up fuel filters or the injection pump getting weak etc etc.

How have you checked the starter? If a solenoid goes, low voltage can damage the starter, too. One 12 volt battery, or 2 sixes, in series like it's supposed to have, along with thick battery cables? I did have 2 12's on mine, for a while, wired in parallel, but I used the six volt wires, cause they are thicker. Also, check to make sure the starter is getting good ground. Old, D-19's have a linkage type push/pull pump shutoff, like the choke on a D-series gasser.

Figured they probably would have the pull type shut down but was not 100% sure and was to lazy to look in my manual I have. So in that case the pull may not be going back to the home position and that will make one not start, guess how I know that one LOL

David, can you give us a few more details? Is it a "crank/no start", or "cranks ok no start"? If it has problems cranking, you can do a test known as a voltage drop test. The voltage drop test is done with a volt meter. Connect a probe of the volt meter across each connection and try to crank the engine. You don't want to see more than .2V on the meter. Any higher and you have a bad connection.
