I have a WC. I found a crack in the block at the bottom between number one and two cylinders I have the liners out. Any suggestions on repairing the crack?

whos manufacturing new blocks. do they make d17 blocks also. most of the old blocks have cracks where he is describing.

That is common, to find a crack there..

I had mine Resistance-Welded and Pined many years ago at "Columbus Col-Weld"..Cols, Ohio.

An AC mechanic told me that this is really not a real problem and to use Non-Hardening Permatex when installing the sleeves and then to pour enough into the bottom of the water jacket to coat the entire bottom of the water jacket to prevent any future leaks..
Just clean up the interior of the water jacket before you do this..
I think it can be caused by stalling a Hot engine and leaving the Hot piston near BDC causes the sleeve to pop the web..
Just my guess, but could be...

Ron..

A old gentelman who worked on AC tractors his whole life told me to just lay a chunk of No. 9 copper wire across the crack and forget it.
