D17 diesel troubles

I am having trouble iwth my early model D17 diesel. Problem is this. I was baling and it would all of the sudden surge and then cut back lacking power.........did this for a while thn all of sudden it died..........I could not get started agan so I thought fuel filters were plugged..............changed them both and took a while but it finally started again.........then it started all over and now died again..........any ideas? injector pump?

I am no expert on this but i would say your injection pump will need some work. There is a plastic or nylon ring that is on the back of the govener assy. After time these rings will break and that will cause them to surge.

Just had the same problem with my 5050, The fuel line was pluged at the shutoff valve. Make sure that you have a good fuel flow.

After sleeping on it I was thinking the same thing as it took forever to bleed the fuel filters and although I blew out the line from the filters to the bowl I did not from the bowl to the tank.......will have to try that after work......thanks

blew out fluel line from filter to tank.............bled again and it started right up...................ran fine
