My C dosnt want to start and run, I put fresh fuel in it after sitting all winter. It starts and runs for a few secconds and dies, after a dozzen or so times of this it will finally run. I replaced the plugs and wires and the problem is still there. It ran for the past few hours while mowing, coughed and sputtered on a few inclines and is now sitting dead in the yard. There is plenty of cranking power it just wont fire. I"m thinking this may be a carb issue, are carb rebuld parts readily available for theese? If so, where can I buy one?

My C die the other day had the carb. rebuilt fresh fuel, plugs and wires. So I got new points, rotor and cap and she fired right up.
hope this helps

I wouldn't rule out the condensor and points but it sounds to me like a fuel supply issue. Pull the drain plug on the bottom of the carb and see if you have a strong steady flow of gas for at least 30 to 60 seconds. Drain into a can so as to not polute and you can reuse the gas. If it hesitates or dribbles, you have obstructions somewhere - carb line, settling bowl or tank. Fuel problems are very common in the spring.

Might be a simple clogged main jet. If your carb is like the one I have on my C it is a common problem. Pull the main jet ca off and make sure you get a good steady flow of gas from it. If you don't then take out the drain plug and spray carb cleaner into it and some times that will fix the problem. BTDT many times

From what you explained about hitting inclines and stubbling, I would say its a fuel delivery problem. When the engine goes under load, it needs a tad more fuel to compensate for the load. If it isn"t there, she"ll stumble and starve for fuel till the load is taken off the engine. Assuming its Mag fired, if it was Ignition problems, it probably wouldn"t have fired up at all. Could be trash in the tank, getting into the carb. Doesn"t take much to mess up the ole" Zenith"s or Marvel carbs. We offer rebuild kits and rebuilding services if interested. Be glad to help you out. Good Luck.
