What size front tires does it take, and why do I hear a rasping noise like metal on metal when I use the belt pulley?

you may have a 49 but it is not a WC. 1948 was the last year WC"s were made

Dang it, I dont know why I keep saying WC when I mean WD. Maybe cause dad had one is the only thing I can figger. Still need the info tho, for a WD 49

Front tires, 5.50 x 16, could go 6.50 x 16
Belt pully, you might need some grease and oil in the rite places. Also you might not have the gears li proper mesh. The pully is adjustable as to how far the gears go togather. Some old pullys from a different tractor, the gears are warn different and will not line up.and make noise.

Go back a few days for a post on engaging the pulley. Holes you engage are not drilled in a circle. It does matter which one you engage the setscrew with. That gets rid of the noise.
