D-17 regulator

any 12 volt regulator should work as long as it is negative ground, or positive ground, or universal- depending on what you are doing. Im not sure the WD 45 had a voltage regulator, but the last ones might have. Thy to use a regulator that has 3 terminals GEN- FLD - BAT. The ones that have a 4th L terminal are old style.

There are A style generators, and B style generators. One grounds the F terminal, the other feeds it voltage. They do not mix at all. JimN

I got a universal one from Orshcelens.........going to ohm out all my wires prior to starting tactor..........looks like someone clipped wire from amp meter to battery.........when i bought this someone had it hooked up neg ground.........bet that is why they cut wire..........will ohm out all wires per wire diagram in my manual............then start it up.............what should voltage be at battery once started?.............14.6?..........not familure with generators............new battery, amp meter and voltage regulator...........if this don't fix charging problem how do I check genertor?
