Recently got an i-400. The motor got rain in it so i would have to have it rebuilt or replace the motor. My question is where could i locate parts or an engine? I know with my international i have some cars had my motor in them as well. What other tractors ect have the same motor? Any and all info would be aprreciated. I know you guys know alot about these old tractors. Thanks

As stated the D14 is the same engine as the I400, slight differences are the manifold and occasionally the head may be slightly different for compression ratio.

I-400 is the industrial version of the D-10/12, Series III. The motor should interchange with D-10, D12, D-14 will need the manifold changed to a D-10/12 manifold (D-14's manifold puts the exhaust pipe about an inch further to the left of where the D-10/12 manifold locates it) The series III version of this motor should be 149 cubes. Check to see if there is a motor serial #, it is located on the block, about an inch forward of the tractor serial #, on the left side of the torque tube, where it meets the motor. If you can't read it, remember I400 should have oval muffler, I40 will have round.

KISS formula....just because an engine got rain in it does not mean it needs a rebuild, much less a replacement. Is it stuck? Get it loose first- may or may not need rings. Might need to be disassembled and cleaned, cylinders honed, cross-hatched, and new rings. Measure the cylinders for wear and egg-shape before deciding on a major overhaul. I-400 should have the G-149 engine, same as a D-10/12. Built 1966-68, SN 1003-1750.

I believe the I-400 has the same engine as an Allis Chalmers D-14 or D-15. You should be able to get parts at any good AGCO dealership.
