Case SC & VAC Memories | My father bought the SC new in 1956. It was an unsold leftover. I spent many hours and years on this faithful machine. It has sat unused for about 20 years. Last winter I rebuilt the engine for a retirement project. What a flood of memories as I drove it around the same farmland where we had once worked together. The spot where dad tipped it over, hauling that huge tree for firewood, the great belt power it provided, the slow but safe high gear. I still have dad's first tractor a, VAC. A neighbor wanted it for parts. It is complete except for a bad crankshaft. I now plan on a VAC rebuild for the tractor I learned to drive. Dad is long gone but I fondly remember the times we spent working these tractors together in the same field. He usually drove the VAC and I remember telling him that he needed to feed it some 'Grow Pup' if he was going to keep up with the SC as we were plowing the same field. I have some pictures of the tractors working at that time but being able to still drive them is the greatest. Herb Dunham, Pa, entered 2000-09-19 My Email Address: Not Displayed |

I can think of a few common, ordinary sounds in my daily life, too.
