Thank You Daddy

I was planning on sowing clover seed this year on the new farm we bought in Ky, and was looking at a new seeder. They sell for 250-300 dollars. The price of a new seeder almost stop the plan. When I remembered, the old seeder in the old back barn up home. It hadn, t been looked at as long as I can remember, as far as being used think the last time it was used was when I was a kid and now I/m 51, I drove back up home 400 miles to look at it. Walk back the old farm drive to the old falling down barn. Back in the corner it stood still in tac. I loaded it in the back seat of the car cause it would not fit in the trunk the wife was not pleased at all, it took the whole back seat and door to door! I got back home the next day unloaded it and slowly, started to loosen up the stuck levers and gate, greased the brass bearings, and pulleys, repainted it, put a new belt on it. Looked good. Then I mounted on my 240 Farmall and with to the Field had to make a few adjustment the jack shaft that runns the belt from the the pto is is piece of hose and a hose clamp right from the factory! After about a 1/2 hour of adjustment I started! It worked great 105# of seed 10 acres of ground covered, and no problems# Long story short, Daddy bought the seeder new at IH store in Peru Ind in 1944 with a new 44 M with his GI money, Its a Mc cormick Deering, 1bushel draw bar mount seeder red frame blue box with rod support arms that bolted to top of rear housing!
