The Ford Disaster | I live in Minnesota, I'm a proud Ford farmer. I currently own three Ford 4000 (one being an older one from the 60's) the rest are from the 70's, which one has a loader for hay on it. One 601 Workmaster, and a Ford 5600 and 6600. I stored them in a gigantic pollshed. One day the snow was so thick and wet I was a bit worried. I awoke in the morning to a huge BOOM!! I got my boots on and went out to see the whole pollshed had collapsed on my tracters and farm equiptment. I was able to quickly get the 601 out (it was hard too because the snow was like 6 ft deep). Soon my neighbors had come and we were all under way. The two 4000s were basically untouched, they were near an exit and one of them had a canopy that held up part of the shed. The 60's 4000 hood was smashed up really bad but was runable. The 6600 was hooked to the spreader, the spreader was totalled, but the tracter was pretty smashed up but could start by itself. The 5600 was almost hopeless. It was sitting in the middle of the shed. A huge rafter had hit right in the middle of the hood. Smashing the radiator, battery, and piston cover. The fenders were no good. I went 5 days without tractors. I had to borrow the neighbors loader tractor to feed animals with and haul manure and plow. I had to pay big to have everything fixed. Now everything is back to normal excpt the 5600, it has no hood and is a bit shakey running. Jeff Mans, MN, entered 2002-12-07 My Email Address: Not Displayed |

It Can't Be Done! - A Tractor Story - by Neil Campbell. I'll never forget the time back when I was a boy baling hay on our Farm in Big Rapid, Michigan. The most memorable event that took place was a trip up the steepest incline on the farm pulling an old New-Idea baler with a pony-motor for power and a haywagon. I had just talked my Dad into buying an old John Deere B with 6-speeds ahead and I was real proud of it, except it was a little smaller than the Case tractor that we normally
