In 1978, I was a student at Southern Illinois University and I studied building construction at their School of Technical Careers. While I was there I marveled at a tractor that the forest service had purchased to pick up logs, I think. I can not remember the make or model but from the engine casing and grill I'd say it was an International or perhaps an Allis Chalmer. The unique feature was that the tractor appeared to have four wheel drive and was on stilt legs that set the driver one story in the air. The whells appeared to be chain driven. If anyone knows any avenue of exploration that would get me closer to seeing this amazing contraption I would be much abliged to them. I want to use the information to design a new tractor to lift and move house trailers. Thanks Alexander J. Knox, AIA, MA, entered 2005-05-02 My Email Address: Not Displayed |
