John Deere 40 | i recently found a john deere 40 that laid in a farmers field for over 30 years. I purchased it for almost nothing.after towing it home, the old girl was in sad shape.seat all rotted, everything looked pretty rusty, transmission was way out of line.pin rotted out of stick shift, too much to tell.but you know when I got to change the oil,the old oil that I drained had about 2 gallons of water in it,i thought their would be no hope, but I was schocked.after putting new oil in it,changing the points, new coil, new plugs, wires, and new battery, would you believe that old girl started right up? the oil pressure stayed right up without moving.just goes to show they dont build them like they used to.i got the transmission fixed.the hydrolic pump leaks alittle, probably seal.just needs a little cleaning and a paint job next, and maybee a rear tire.i cant get over it. randy kneer, ny, entered 2006-11-18 My Email Address: Not Displayed |
