today was the first real day or work on the vac. I have her up at the shop with hood propped open. changed the engine oil to 20w50 and flushed it. put on a new fram c159 oil filter, removing the napa 7011 it had. was pleased to see the oil stem still present, a lil bent but present. drained torque tube and refilled.. took about 1.5g oil, checked oil level in hyds, looked fine, understanad it had been cleaned and serviced just before purchase whena new seal had been installed. drained rear end / tranny.. must have have 8-9 g of oil in it .. refilled with 6.75 g of oil.. 6.5 of 85 140 ( same as tt ) and then 1/4 g of lucas hub oil. greases top and bottom points on steering pedistal, and all 3 points on clutch / brake pivots, plus fittings on steering gear.

still need to repack front wheel beairngs.

cleaned up elec conenctions in and around distrib to get hotter spark, cleaned and serviced oil bath air filter and media. inspected hood, and area a reman chevy alt will mount. picke dup a new choke knob and linkage.

measured exhaust for a flap cap.. need 2"

picke dup nason orange paint and hardner plus cream hardner for bondo.. hood has expensive pitting and will need bondo.. finally found 1 rust thru in a sid epanel I can backup and fill.. might eswap or bondo steering wheel

still need to pull fuel tank off. think it can be fixed.. etc...

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?").
