43 was the year they only made 988 VACs. WW2 was blamed for that. in 1944 they made 4,834 VACs.
the manual hitch is from a cultivator set like a VCB2 or similar.
seems like a shame that its gonna get parted out because its missing a side pannel but if its as bad as you think (being exposed to winters, etc.) then use what you can and hold on to what you cant. someone somewhere wants parts too.
