Question for you mechanics out there My tractor ran better when I first got it than it does now. (A sad commentary after all the elbow grease and the money I've spent Ha!) Everything cleaned up, sludge cleaned out. New coil, cap, points condenser. Valve lash set. Carb cleaned. New gaskets. Manifold repaired Wha's a matter here? Been "thinkin" on my way home from up North, "puttin up" deer stands. Early on, when "foolin around", I sheared the pin in the larger gear meshing with the one on the distributor by putting in another screw (longer) to hold the condenser in. Trouble is, it was too long and caught on the interior mechanism. That's what sheared the pin. The mechanism seemed okay when I checked it, but I wonder if the mechanism got sprung in there. My tractor runs fine at idle, but when I throttle it up it begins to miss, sputter, backfire and will even kill. Leave it sit for a minute or two, start it up again and it hits on all four again at idle speed. Anyone had a similar problem? Am I unto something? Is this my next step in my quest to get this machine to run right. Is the mechanism possibly sticking or sprung and not advancing the spark as it should and that's what causing my problem? Appreciate any words of wisdom.

It was on his farm that I learned to use the combination hand clutch and brake on a John D
