Marlin, I will dig out my SM manual later and see if it will shed some light on your problem, I have worked on the 580CK/580B units a lot but it has been a day or two since I have been it too one but I think I remember the hole you are speaking of, on the tractor units they had a plug that was installed if a pto was not used to keep the oil going in the correct place not sure if a forklift used the same shaft but is possible for sure, is this a problem that just started or are you trying to fix something some one else has been into before?
