Hello, Needles to say after reading these questions you will know that I have never owned a backhoe before and didn't get the owners manual that went with it so please bear with me as I learn about it. I have several questions about P.M. maintenance on my Case 580k backhoe. Obiviously Case wants you to use their lubricating products; what I was wondering was what would be an acceptable substitute for the fluids in the transaxle and the hydraulic system as well as in the rear end. Also, what type of grease for the fittings would be best to use. Now for the hard questions: Someone told me that the backhoe has a tranxaxle filter. Where is it located and is the filter the type that you have to replace like an oil filter? Also, would there be a gasket that would need to be replaced? It also has a rear end screen, where is this located and will it need to be replaced like an oil filter and will it need a gasket? When I change out the transaxle fluid, would I need to drain the torque converter to get all of the old fluids out? If I do does the torque converter have to be refilled or will the circulating of the transaxle fluid refill it? Also, on the where you put the hydraulic fluid in there is a peep hole. Should this peep hole have hydraulic fluid in it? Thanking you in advance. Mitch.

It was on his farm that I learned to use the combination hand clutch and brake on a John D
