a stock 39 B would have had a magneto, not a distributor. I will assume you have the distributor. You can tell this if you do not have an external coil. On the magneto, there is a small threaded stud, maybe a #8 sticking out about 3/8 inch to the right. If you connect a wire to this and touch it to the tractor frame (ground) you will KILL the motor. This is where you put the kill switch. NOw i you do actually have a distributor, then there is one wire coming out underneith it that goes to the coil mounted next to the distributor. The other side of the coil is connected to the battery, maybe with an inline switch to shut off the voltage to the coil in order to KILL the motor. Note that a distributor needs a coil and a battery to run, the magneto has an internal coil, and needs no battery.
