start the tractor, ground the "F" terminal. THen take a volt meter and put across the "A" and "F" terminals and see if it has any output. Since there is no battery or regulator, a 6 volt generator will put out about 12 volts and a 12 volt unit will put out 24 volts (approx). This will be running wide open, no regulation at all. If the generator works, then you can get a regulator to control it.
