I just rebuilt dads WD45. There are 2 bearings in the wormgear shaft. The bearings are easy to get, but the outside diameter of the races are larger than a standard race, ordered them from NAPA. The seal on the wormgear shaft is a 4 piece seal, only available fron AGCO. It consists of 2 metal cups and 2 pieces of cork, The 2 metal cups cost me 30.00 each. The bottom bearing and 2 seals were only available from Agco. The dealer recommended cornhead grease in the gearbox. I think I'll scoop it out and fill it with SAE 90 gear lube, or perhaps chain saw bar oil. It still steers hard. I pulled the whole front end off the tractor and replaced all the bearings and seals, wish I had replaced the ujoint while I had it apart. 60 year old grease stinks, have plenty of cleaning rags and cleaning solvent around.
