I don't remember if the adjustment is the same on all D17's. Some pressure plate fingers are adjustable near the hinge, usually with a screw and jambnut. I have never attempted, and don't know if you could possibly adjust them. In my very younger days I was called upon to replace the little screw that had worked it's way out of the end of the finger on a D17IV. After much trial and error, I managed to get it started, and adjusted, through that little hole in the bottom. I think I managed it through perseverance- I didn't want to fail. If I were to attempt it today, I would probably try to find or make a tool that would somehow do it.
