Thanks for the suggestions, I will try to do the test in the next couple of days. Is the G terminal the one under the regulator? If it is hooked up right, what should it be hooked to?
Thanks

steve(ill) said: (quoted from post at 20:23:01 09/16/08) your regulator should have 4 terminals. on the bottom is the 4th. The B is battery. it goes to the amp meter, out of the amp to the battery... the F is field- goes to the generator F. the G is generator, goes to the A terminal on gen. the L is load or light. it gest voltage from the light switch on the first generation regulators. try leaving it blank. if that dont work, connect it to the B to get 6 volts... first try grounding the F to the frame to get a good ground, see if that makes it charge...when the F is grounded, put a volt meter across the F and A terminal of the generator and see if there is output.... to polarize the generator magnets, touch the G and B terminals of the reg together for 1 second, get a spark, then start motor and test.

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
