Bing 2 today/ I ditched the Jeep | Check today's Bing.com site out: 20+ combines working a bean field in Brazil. Regarding the Jeep truck we once had, about 50 years ago: A tough winter storm had hit the day before. I was headed over to the neighbors a few miles away and going too fast (as usual) when I hit a hard snow drift and lost control. Thus I ended up in the ditch. I had to dig out some snow on each side in order to turn the free-wheeling hub locks to engage the 4-wheel drive. That didn't help at all since the frame was buried in snow. After a few minutes trying to dig out with an aluminum grain scoop, I knew I was really out of luck. I mean, this truck was buried! My dad was a few minutes behind me as we were going to do some electrical work and he always would have a cup of coffee before he when anywhere. [Back then, time usually consisted of 'fore noon' or 'after dinner.' A watch was not too much of a necessity.] I was close to the neighbors who happened to come by then, as well as the county road maintainer plowing the drifts out. The neighbor had enough infuence with the county to more or less tell the operator to pull my dad's truck out of the ditch. He had a log chain on board that looked big enough to pull 2 or 3 trucks out as I recall. We made it to the neighbor's house before my dad showed up and he never knew what had happened!
